• A gallon of water
  • Approximately 1/4 pound of real iron nails or iron filings
  • 8 oz. turpentine (optional)
  • Add the nails to a quart-sized jar and fill the rest of the jar with water. Add the nails. Allow this to sit for a couple of weeks until the nails begin to rust and disseminate their particles into the water. Use it to drive away from an enemy by pouring it on a place where they must walk.
  • Some old formulas call for creosote, pine tar or turpentine, which is derived from pine tar. This variation is sometimes called “Tar Water.” Other sticky substances may be added to this formula to give it extra binding power.
